General Motors has confirmed the 2014 Chevrolet Impala full-size sedan has earned a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The vehicle earned five stars in both the side and front impact tests, and four stars in the rollover crash test, according to the automaker.
Chevy equipped the new Impala with a number of safety features like 10 airbags, antilock brakes, and stability control.
Standard air bags include, but are not limited to, driver and front passenger side-impact, dual-stage frontal passenger bags with passenger sensing system, and head curtain bags with rollover sensing for front and rear outboard positions.
A rear vision camera, hill hold/ start assist and ultrasonic rear park assist are also standard according to the automaker.
The Impala competes in the same segment as similar vehicles like the 2014 Chrysler 300, Ford Taturus, and the Toyota Avalon.
The full-size sedan currently has "incomplete scores" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but did earn "Good" scores in the institute's side crash test and front overlap crash test, according to Edmunds.
