At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Porsche has introduced two new models, the 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S, which will be released this summer.

The new vehicles are the first the automaker has designed to combine the original Targa concept along with more modern features.

Porsche confirmed in a press release this week the new models feature Targa roof bars, a wraparound rear window, and a movable front roof section. Unlike the classis 911 model however, the roof can be opened and closed simply by pressing a button.

Both new Targa models come in AWD options, which features a wider rear track and body, and the same Porsche Traction Management (PTM), available for all 911 all-wheel-drive vehicles, according to the press release.

"Porsche doesn't have many vehicles, but it's famous for having many different versions of those vehicles," Scott Oldham, editor-in-chief for Edmunds.com, said according to The Los Angeles Times. "They don't plan to sell a million Targas, but they understand it opens up different regions of the country, cold-weather locales, where buyers might want a little more weather protection and security than they get in a Cabriolet."

The 911 Targa 4 is equipped with a 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine capable of producing 350 hp. When equipped with the available Sport Chrono package and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), the Targa 4 can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, and is capable of accelerating to a speed of 174 mph, or 175 mph with the manual transmission.

The 911 Targa 4S is equipped with a 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine that delivers 400 hp and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds when equipped with optional PDK and Sport Chrono package, according to Porsche.  The 911 Targa 4S can reach a top speed of 183 mph when equipped with a manual transmission.

The 911 Targa 4 will be sold for a base price of $101,600, while the 911 Targa 4S model will be available for $116,200. Both cars have a destination fee of $995.
