Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Villains Are No Thanos But Will Be Villainous Enough

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 gives fans two new villains. Ayesha and Taserface, however, won't be anything like Thanos but will be just enough to keep the heroes on their toes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Villains Ayesha and Taserface. The original movie gave us a glimpse of a bigger threat to the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Thanos, as everyone may well know from the comics, is a nihilistic power-hungry supervillain bent on dominating not just the galaxy but the whole universe.

Fans won't be seeing him in this new movie, though. Marvel is most likely saving his appearances for the Infinity Wars movies of which he will be the main villain. He will probably appear in a mid-credits or end-credits scene like he has in previous MCU films just to build up hype or be at least hinted at in the movie.

Compared to Thanos, villains Ayesha and Taserface are relatively small-scale. Although their ambitions are not as grandiose as Ronan's or even Thanos', they are still villainous enough to keep things interesting. If Ronan were the villain who brought the Guardians together, Ayesha and Taserface would be ones who will test the heroes' dedication as a team and a family.

Interviewed about the movie, director and writer James Gunn said that when people make a sequel, "they tell the exact same story, strip it down, replace the jokes with new jokes, replace the bad guy with a new bad guy, (and) tell the same exact story, but just in a different way." He further added, "...but that's not what we're doing at all with this movie."

Aside from the heroes being tested as a group, the new movie will focus on each member individually giving us more backstory that the first film couldn't afford the fans. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017, in 3D and IMAX 3D making it the 15th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
