The Surface Pro 4 is considered to be the ultimate two-in-one device even with its poor battery life. Microsoft is looking to one-up itself with the much-anticipated Surface Pro 5 which is set for release possibly much sooner than most people think.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5. For those waiting for the next generation Surface device which could possibly be the Pro 5, there is no need to wait any longer. Initial speculations revolved around Microsoft officially introducing the Surface Pro 5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. This could now very well happen with the start of the Intel Kaby Lake processor's mass production.

The Redmond-based tech giant was originally expected to launch the Pro 5 in 2016. However, the delayed launch of Intel's Kaby Lake processor, in turn, led to the delay of the Pro 5's launch.

The current generation Pro 4 was a commercial and critical success upon its release. It has little to no compromises and runs on the dependable Windows 10 able to get both regular day-to-day tasks and heavy-duty workloads. Unfortunately, it had a downside. The Pro 4's battery life was so poor that it defeated the purpose of the device as a high-performing device. Regular browsing alone afforded only four hours worth of battery life.

The new Surface is expected to run on the Intel Kaby Lake processor making it a better device than its predecessor and even possibly stealing the title of the ultimate two-in-one device. The use of the Kaby Lake processor will no doubt mean faster processing and efficient battery life for the Pro 5. Chip manufacturer Intel has confirmed that the Kaby Lake is designed to be very much better than its predecessor, the Intel Skylake, in every possible aspect.

Speculations say that the Surface Pro 5 will be launched at the upcoming MWC 2017. The MWC 2017 will be held in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2 of this year.
