It was thought that a Theater Mode would come with iOS 10.3. Apparently, the sought after Theater Mode will be coming to the Apple Watch via a watchOS 3.2 update.

Theater Mode for watchOS. In summary, the Theater Mode will allow wearers to turn off the lift-to-wake function and mute the sound on Apple's smartwatch. Originally, Theater Mode was expected to be a part of the latest iOS update accessible via the Control Center. However, it was nowhere to be found. It will be found on the upcoming watchOS 3.2 update instead.

With the new mode on, the Apple Watch will no longer light up when the wrist it is on is raised. Users will still receive notifications via haptic feedback. To turn on the smartwatch while on Theater Mode, one would need to tap its screen or press down on watch's digital crown.

"Introduced in watchOS 3.1.3, Theater Mode lets users quickly mute the sound on their Apple Watch and avoid waking the screen on wrist raise. Users still receive notifications (including haptics) while in Theater Mode, which they can view by tapping the screen or pressing the Digital Crown," explained the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Theater Mode for the iOS is still unclear. What is for certain is the mode definitely coming to the smartwatch via the upcoming watchOS 3.2 update. Speculations say that Theater Mode can be accessed on the iOS when the smartwatch is successfully paired with an iPhone.

There have been mixed reactions towards the release of the Theater Mode on watchOS instead of the iOS. Some users feel that the mode should be available on both platforms. Other are more agreeable to the mode being on watchOS given that it is of more use on the Apple Watch than on the iPhone which you can simply tuck in your pocket while in a movie house.
