The Android 7.0 Nougat update for android phones are the most exciting news at the beginning of 2017. However, weeks after its release, both tech giants Samsung and Sony halted the hyped update due to performance issues.

Most Android users who have tried the latest version of Google's Nougat operating system are having a difficult time with the update. The South Korean multinational conglomerate company, Samsung, was one of the first companies to try the update on their flagship phones.

Recently, Samsung revealed that the Galaxy and Galaxy S7 Edge phones have gotten the upgrade. However, Samsung was also quick to halt the update in China after a bug was discovered within the Android 7.0 Nougat.

On the other hand, Sony has also stopped the launch of Google's latest operating system on its Xperia range. The Japanese corporation decided to halt the operation after a number of users reported problems with the update.

"We were made aware of reports from some users experiencing inconsistencies related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance, after upgrading to Android 7.0, Nougat. We've identified the root cause and are aiming to provide corrective firmware and re-commence the rollout as soon as possible." the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation said in a statement.

Sony was in the middle of upgrading its range of Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 Tablets when the Android 7.0 Nougat problems were reported. On other news, the company has confirmed the reveal of several new smartphones within the next few weeks. Sony recently sent out official invites for its upcoming press conference at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade show which will be held in Barcelona on Monday, February 27th.

Samsung was supposed to launch its flagship phone, Galaxy S8, on the said event. However, reports suggest it could not be the perfect time for the company yet. With this in mind, MWC could be the perfect time for Sony to release its new Xperia phones - with or without the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
