Over the past few weeks, Tesla have been in the news for all wrong reasons, and now CEO Elon Musk is all set to make sure that Tesla's image and performance achieves the correct exposure.

According to reports, Tesla Motors will be hiring Jeff Dahn, a leading battery researcher and instructor at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia in an exclusive contract. Dahn, who will be starting on June 8, will be arriving with orders to do "whatever it takes" to improve the battery performance of the company, according to Quartz.

Notably, Musk has been making Tesla the brand of electric car with latest designs and technology, but have overlooked the most important aspect of an automotive - the battery.

On May 4, Musk had set a goal of selling half a million cars in 2018, including hundreds of Model 3s. However, rivals, and analysts have suggested that Tesla does not have enough manpower to actually go ahead and manufacture the said numbers.

The decision to bring Dahn on board reportedly suggests that Musk is finally ready to hear some ugly, but much needed truth about his objectives, and abandoning some of the orthodox measures previously used. However, it might be a bit late to implement the changes and reach his annual objective.

Meanwhile, Dahn mentioned that he will be stepping in with the same industry objectives and beliefs of low cost, high energy density and long battery life. However, "whatever it takes" is just an operational mantra, which he picked up from Kurt Kelly, Tesla's battery director.

"Those are the goals, and that's how we're going to do it," Dahn said. "We're open to anything that makes sense."

In other news, Tesla is still trying to recover from the suggested low wage paid while building a workshop for one of Tesla's latest models, and is fighting a lawsuit, which can lead to penalty.
