Volvo's much awaited model, XC40, is scheduled to be released today, May 18, and just a day before the official release, Volvo has teased its viewers with a series of images on its Snapchat account.
The two pictures from Snapchat show a taillight design, which looks almost similar to the S90 and Concept Coupe of the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, according to Motor Trend. Additionally, a second image posted on the official Snapchat account shows that Volvo is considering two different concepts for its XC40 model.
The second image shows a partial top - view shots of two separate vehicles, with the one on left being the S40, and the one on right is a SUV like vehicle, which features Volvo's signature taillights.
Notably, the XC40 model of Volvo is the first one to utilize the all-new Compact Modular Architecture, which is made specifically for smaller, lighter cars, although Volvo has made no official confirmation.
With semi autonomous driving, also known as Pilot Assist, the newest model of Volvo will offer its users with a digital key app, which can allow anyone with the "key" to remotely unlock and start the car, reported Car & Driver.
Although the XC40 shares design similarities with Volvo's XC90, yet the XC40's gate is steeper, and with black plastic cladding, it looks more professional. Moreover, the XC40 model boasts of a 1.5-liter turbo charged three-cylinder engine, a plug - in hybrid and an unspecified turbocharged four - cylinder.
Volvo's 40 Series vehicles are slated to be rolled out in 2018 and sometime in late 2017, Volvo will roll out the next generation 60 series.
Strategically, the 40 series of Volvo aims to enter the entry - level premium market and will be competing against Audi Q3 and A3, Mercedes Benz GLA and CLA class, BMW X1 and X2 and Acura ILX.
