Zynga has appointed Regina Dugan, Google's vice president of engineering, to its board this week, making her the second female director on the online gaming company's board, according to Reuters.
Dugan, 51, is also in charge of the advanced technology and projects group at Google, which focuses on new inventions like a tablet that is capable of using 3D motion and depth sensing capabilities.
Dugan will help Zynga offer "next generation entertainment experiences that span categories, platforms and devices," Zynga Chief Executive Officer Don Mattrick said in a blog post this week.
Zynga, which is known for its online games like "Farmville," recently introduced a business revival plan by overhauling top management, cutting staff and introducing titles that are capable of being played not only on tablets but smartphones as well, according to Reuters.
Former Yahoo executive Ellen Siminoff was the first female director on Zynga's board of directors, which features a total of nine directors.
The news comes after LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, stepped down last month.
Dugan will run the nominating and governance committee of Zynga's board, and will join the product committee as well, according to Reuters.
The Google VP is also a former director of the U.S. Defense Department's Advanced Research Projects Agency, and also sits on the board of medical device maker Varian Medical Systems.
Other Zynga games includes Café World, Mafia Wars, and Draw Something.
