Volkswagen has ordered its U.S. dealers to stop selling over 25,000 vehicles, including its 2014 Volkswagen Beetle, and Beetle Convertible, due to a transmission issue.
The automaker has also issued a stop-sale order for its Jetta and Passat 1.8T models, according to VW.
Affected vehicles are equipped with automatic transmissions. The vehicles are no longer being sold due to a transmission oil leak that could cause a fire.
Vehicles were produced after February 1, 2014, according to VW.
No accidents, injuries, or fires have been reported yet, according to Volkswagen spokesman Mark Gillies, who spoke with Edmunds.
"We have found an O-ring that connects to the automatic transmission cooler is defective," the automaker said in a statement this week. "To fix the issue, VW will replace the faulty O-ring with a new one, free of charge."
VW said a fire is possible in the aforementioned vehicles when "under extreme conditions."
The automaker is planning on notifying the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the issue this week.
The NHTSA oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S. No vehicles have been recalled due to the issue as of yet, according to VW.
