'Fast & Furious 7' to Use CGI, Body Doubles to Replace Paul Walker

Shooting has resumed for "Fast & Furious 7," which will still feature the late Paul Walker thanks to body doubles and CGI, according to the New York Daily News.

"They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul's physique and they will be used for movement and as a base," one source close to production said to the paper. "Paul's face and voice will be used on top using CGI."

Universal feels this is the best way to keep Walker, who died last November in a fiery car crash, in the next installment of the popular "Fast & Furious" franchise.

Walker, 40, played cop Brian O'Conner in every "Fast" movie but the third film, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

Universal confirmed in December that Walker would still appear in the film in some fashion, but failed to say how they would pull it off.

"Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of 'Fast & Furious 7,' which will be released by Universal Pictures on April 10, 2015," the studio previously said in a statement. "James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as producers."

Universal has been shooting scenes in downtown Atlanta.

Vin Diesel, who plays lead character Dominic Toretto, posted a picture of the last scene he filmed with Walker on Instagram recently, saying "There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared ... in the film we were now completing ... the magic captured ... and, in just how far we've come ... 'Fast and Furious 7' will be released ... April 10th 2015! P.S. He'd want you to know first."

Production for the film was delayed after Walker died in a car crash outside of Los Angeles on Nov. 30 while the crew was on break for Thanksgiving.

The "Fast & Furious" franchise has grossed approximately $2.4 billion worldwide since the first film was released back in 2001.
