Volkswagen has confirmed its new 2015 Volkswagen Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Golf, Passat and Jetta will all feature the automaker's new TDI Clean Diesel engine.

The engine has been called EA288, and is the latest version of VW's 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine.

The new engine is capable of delivering 150 horsepower, which is an increase of 10 hp compared to the current engine.

Volkswagen says interested customers can expect the new engine to be more fuel efficient, though expected fuel-economy numbers have yet to be revealed.

EA288 will almost be a completely new engine, as it only shares the bore spacing with its predecessor, according to VW.

Volkswagen and Audi sold around 105,899 TDI Clean Diesel vehicles last year.

Pricing has yet to be announced by the German automaker for any of the 2015 Volkswagen models with the new engine.

Volkswagen also confirmed the vehicles will hit dealerships sometime during the second half 2014.
