Nissan Recall: 2014 Titan Called Back Over Label Issues

Jan 14, 2014 12:32 PM EST | Matt Mercuro

Nissan has announced it is recalling 183 2014 Nissan Titan King Cab and Crew Cab pickup trucks on account of an incorrect label that could lead to tire failure.

The recall was confirmed in a report issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"In the affected vehicles, the Tire and Loading Information label overstates the maximum load and passenger-carrying capacity of the vehicle," said NHTSA in its summary.

Affected vehicles were produced from August 27, 2013 through November 13, 2013.

Nissan will start alerting owners of the affected vehicles and will instruct dealers to install or provide the correct labels for installation.

"If the vehicle is loaded to the capacity stated on the incorrect label, and the tire load capacity is exceeded, the vehicle may experience structural damage to the tire. If this occurs, this may lead to tire failure, which could increase the risk of a crash," said the NHTSA.

The recall will start next week on January 21.
