Apple has supposedly reached a deal with China Mobile, the world's biggest phone carrier, according to the Associated Press.
The deal could increase sales in China for devices like the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. It is believed that China Mobile could help Apple sell more than 40 million more phones.
The iPhone 5S and 5C will go on sale in Apple stores and China Mobile stores starting on Jan. 17, according to AP.
China Mobile customers will be able to register for both phones on Dec. 25.
Though the iPhone has been popular world-wide, it has been outsold by cheaper Google Android phones.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said to the official Xinhua News Agency that he believes China will surpass the United States as its biggest market sometime in the near future. Over 50 million iPhones have been sold in China over the past 2 1/2 years.
"We had a pretty good quarter in China," Apple CEO Tim Cook said recently in a statement. "We obviously want to do better."
China Mobile is owned by the Chinese government and has over 750 million mobile accounts, according to AP.
Currently, Samsung sells one of every five smartphones in China, but that could change by this time next year.
