Honda has announced that both the 2015 Honda Fit and the 2015 Acura TLX Protoype models will debut at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show.
The new Fit will build on the last model's innovation and styling with a more roomy interior and greater connectivity, while the Acura TLX represents Honda's new luxury midsize sedan to replace the outgoing TL model.
The Japanese automaker, which confirmed the debuts in a press release on Thursday, will hold press conferences for Honda and for the Acura brand on Jan. 13 and 14, respectively.
The 2015 Fit is a third-generation vehicle that boasts improved fuel efficiency, better performance and a strong powertrain, according to the press release. The latest model, which features a newly engineered body structure, is also expected to excel in safety ratings.
The Acura TLX Prototype will replace the outgoing TL as the brand gradually phases in the new model over the next year. According to Honda, the latest version will offer more options with two high-performance and direct-injected engines with improved fuel efficiency.
Each engine is matched to a new, advanced transmission, and the vehicle will be available in both two-wheel and all-wheel drive.
"This all-new Acura TLX is the perfect blend of style and muscle with its elegant, well-proportioned exterior that cloaks the true sport sedan chassis and powertrain beneath," Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of American Honda Motor, Co., said in the press release. "The sporty characteristics that customers found appealing in the TSX are even more pronounced in this aggressive new TLX."
The 2014 North American International Auto Show will be held Jan. 13-26 and will feature 71 vehicle debuts that include 61 worldwide introductions. The event welcomed nearly 800,000 attendees last year, according to the show website.
