The 2010-'12 Toyota Camry has been named the most stolen vehicle in the large and midsized car segment, according to a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Thieves also targeted similar vehicles, including the Chevrolet Impala, Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Malibu, and The Ford Fusion rounds out the top five vehicles.
Other vehicles that made the top ten list includes: the Chrysler 300, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Charger, Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord,
The report was compiled and based on National Crime Information Center vehicle theft records from Jan. 1, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2012.
"By far, the midsized class had the most theft activity with 22,090 thefts or 70 percent of the combined large and midsized total," the report said.
Over 31,586 large and midsized vehicles were reported stolen in the U.S. during the previously mentioned reporting period.
Approximately 4,619 Toyota Camry's were stolen during that time frame.
The state where the most large and midsized thefts occurred were: California, Florida, Michigan, Texas and New York, according to the study.
