The hit "Disney Infinity" video game will soon be populated by more characters as Disney Interactive adds some princesses to the mix, USA TODAY reported.
Characters new to the game will include Rapunzel from the movie "Tangled" and Anna and Elsa from "Frozen," which is slated for release next week. Disney Interactive will implement the princesses this month.
Their arrival will be the biggest rollout of toys for the game since it launched in August, said "Disney Infinity" producer John Vignocchi.
"The female characters, especially the Princesses, were among the top requests," Vignocchi said.
As she did in the movie, Rapunzel will use a frying pan to battle enemies. Anna comes with a grappling hook while Elsa uses ice-based powers to fight.
"It's not just about bringing about popular characters, but characters that are really fun," Vignocchi said.
Of the 21 characters currently in the game, only four are women, Jezebel noted. These four are Mrs. Incredible and Violet from "The Incredibles," Holley from "Cars" and Jessie from "Toy Story."
"Could explain why the ladies were in high demand," Jezebel said, adding that popular characters such as Nala from "The Lion King" and Mrs. Potts from "Beauty and the Beast" should also be additions to the game.
In the "Disney Infinity" game, players bring toys "to life" with a special portal. They can build their own worlds within the game, using Power Discs to change landscapes in the customizable Toy Box.
The game has been a huge success for Disney More than 1 million starter packs for the game have been sold, and nearly 2 million levels created in the game's Toy Box mode have been downloaded since its launch.
While the Toy Box gadgets and meandering storylines are downsides, overall the game has good visuals and is fun for children and parents, according to a New York Daily News review.
