A man is suing Delta Airlines after he claims he was forced to crawl down the aisle of his plane, down the stairs, and across the tarmac to his wheelchair with no help.

Baraka Kanaan was paralyzed during a car crash in 2000, forcing him to rely on a wheelchair to get around.

Kanaan claims Delta assured him weeks ago that his disability wouldn't be a problem, but when his flight departing from Hawaii was canceled due to weather, he had to book a flight for the following day.

After his arrival in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Kanaan claims Delta had no equipment, such as an aisle chair and a lift, to help him off the plane.

Kanaan claims the attendant's had no plan to get him off the plane.

"I don't know, but we can't get you off the plane," the complaint claims an attendant said to Kanaan according to UPI.com.

The traveler was forced to crawl hand over hand through the main cabin, down a flight of stairs, and across the tarmac to his wheelchair according to Kanaan.

"Our agents and attendants are always available to help our customers before boarding, in the air and at the destination airport," said Delta regarding the case in a press statement. "It is Delta's policy to fully comply with all applicable rules and regulations governing accessibility for customers with disabilities. This includes providing assistance during the boarding and deplaning process, such as providing timely wheelchair assistance, mechanized lifts, and ramps when needed. We take the allegations that this customer has made in his lawsuit very seriously."

The ordeal caused Kanaan "great physical and emotional suffering" according to UPI.

Delta reportedly offered him a $100 voucher and 25,000 SkyMiles, but he refused to accept it. Kanaan is now looking for compensation and damages to be announced at trial.
