A former employee of a discount store in Michigan was charged on July 24 for the murder of two former Family Dollar workers.

Lavere Bryant was arraigned in court and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He faces an additional six charges after police arrested him last week of a robbery that took place at a Family Dollar store in Dearborn, Michigan according to the Associated Press.

Bryant credited the store's surveillance video camera which captured images of a suspect who waved as he walked inside the store.

"We got a slew of good tips that led to this arrest," Haddad said.

During the robbery, Bryant supposedly killed Joseph Orlando and a second employee, Brenna Machus, was abducted from the store.

Machus' body was found shot to death two days later by police in a dumpster.

"I did not murder anybody," Bryant said in court on Wednesday according to The News Herald.

Police are confident that the 34-year-old is the one that killed Machus and Orlando, both 20-years-old.

Bryant, who is being held without bond, requested a court-appointed attorney according to the Associated Press. His preliminary examination is set for July 31.

"We are saddened by the loss of Joseph and Brenna and our hearts go out to their families and friends," said Bryn Winburn according to the Detroit Free Press. "We have a strong, tight-knit team in Detroit, and our focus is on taking care of them right now as we all work to understand what happened."

Bryant was terminated from the company in the spring according to Winburn.

The Family Dollar is retail store in a busy shopping section on the west side of Dearborn.
