Technology is helping us live better. However, it also has its limits, from which the car industry has been suffering from, in the latter years. Although the sanitary crisis and the war in Ukraine can be partly blamed for the scarcity of new cars on the market, it is mostly the global microchip shortage that has affected it. And before we start thinking of moving solely in electric cars, we also need to find more copper, so we make the switch. Here is a look at the good and the bad of new technology, in the car industry.

The Good

Let's be nice and start with what technology has brought to the car industry, in a positive way, in the latter years, which also made life better for drivers, all over the world. Although cars are still basically mechanical, there has been a lot of new technology introduced into it. They still have many parts that you can easily change with new ones, such as all the various brake parts that you will find at Haldex, but they also have software and hardware to help us drive them better, or even by themselves. That is certainly one of the benefits of new technology that we have seen in this industry, lately. As cars become more aware of their environment, they are able to save lives, by letting the driver know about potential dangers on the road. They can even make decisions by themselves, such as reducing speed, if an object is coming up too fast in front of them. We can easily imagine cars fully driving by themselves in a few years, which will remove human's inattention entirely, from the dangers of the road.

The car has also become a place where you can be entertained, thanks to the highest level of quality of their infotainment system. On top of a great radio system, you can also attach various mobile apps to your car today. Spotify will let you play the music you enjoy, while Google Maps gets you where you want to go, in the shortest amount of time.

Finally, let's mention that new technologies are enabling us to move away from fossil fuels. With electric cars, the level of pollution in the world, in the future, will certainly reach an all-time low, in the modern world era. Let's not forget that an electric car provides a smoother ride, which is quite important for those who almost live in their car, as they use it for work, daily.

The Bad

As we mentioned in the introduction, technology has become a weight on the car industry, in the last few years. That is mostly because of the shortage of microchips. They are requested in many different products these days (including cell phones), as they are used to control the devices that they are inserted into. As well, new technologies come with the obligation of augmenting the production of certain objects, or simply finding the materials necessary to create them. That is true of copper, for example, which we would not have sufficiently, if all cars were electric, today.
