Introduction:

The motorcycle blind spot detection system is one of the modern wonders of this modern society. In this modern era of globalization, the world faces several complex problems and is trying to adapt to technological revolution to keep pace with this fast-growing world. So in this modern society, the motorcycle blind-spot detection system has made significant contributions as it has drastically decreased the percentile of road accidents and ensured a safe and sound journey for the rider. So, in order to grasp all the underlying concepts regarding the working applications and essence of motorcycle blind spot detection effectively and efficiently, we need to start with the basic details first.

Now firstly, let us have a brief introduction about what basically is a blind spot? So, blind spots are referred to as vehicle points that are not directly visible to the rider. Even a bicycle tends to contain a blind spot. That is why it is said that blind spots are common factors of vehicles regardless of the type of the vehicle that whether it is a truck, a car, or lastly, a motorcycle. These blind spots are typically located at the backside of the vehicle and at the rear sides of the vehicle, which is the left-and-right hand side. Now quite obvious, while riding a motorcycle, the rider would have to rotate his head completely to a 360 degree to monitor the incoming vehicle from the backside. So, they would have a very high probability of meeting an accident because of taking their eyes off the road. The same is the case about the rear sides of the motorcycle, as while shifting between the road lanes, the rider would indeed have to take his eyes off the road to see whether a vehicle is coming from the respective rear side or not.

Practical implications and significance:

Here comes the necessary aid of the motorcycle blind spot detection, which provides the rider with the much-needed visionary support with the help of different components to perform its effective and efficient function. So, to better understand, let us discuss some of the most common components of the motorcycle blind spot detection system. Let us start with the most common and generic one, which happens to be the rear mirrors. The rear mirrors are considered to be a fundamental yet very effective part of motorcycle blind spot detection. As discussed above, how difficult and dangerous it is for the rider of the bike to monitor the blind spots of the vehicles. So, the rear mirrors are installed at the left and right sides of the bike to provide the rider with the necessary visionary aid. With the help of the rear mirrors, it would be very safe and easy for the rider to switch between the road lanes. He would be able to spot whether he can shift the lane or not as it is clear to move to the right or left side.

Moreover, the question remains regarding the blind spot located at the backside of the motorcycle. For that, the motorcycle blind spot detection has a radar monitor attached to the backside. This radar monitor tends to have in-built radar and sonar sensors. By sending radar waves, it detects the incoming vehicles coming from the backside and then transmits the message in the form of a warning to the rider of the motorcycle. This warning tends to be in the form of a visual image commonly, which is then displayed into the rear mirrors so that the rider is immediately notified. Last but not least, some of the most advanced motorcycle blind spot detection systems also have a warning light which again serves the function of informing the rider regarding the blind spots by blinking in a particular pattern.
