Jimmie Johnson ‘Rat Out:’ NASCAR Driver Claims He Didn’t Tell On Penske Team (VIDEO)

NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson denied that Hendrick Motorsports had anything to do with the penalties given out to rival Penske Racing during last week's race in Texas according to Yahoo.

"No, the Hendrick group and the No. 48 team did not rat out the Penske cars," Johnson said before Cup practice at Kansas Speedway in a press conference. "There are two decisions teams are faced with in the garage area. Everybody has people watching. We've been very impressed with the No. 2 car's staff and their ability to have somebody just stand and watch other teams."

The team, who sponsors drivers like Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, was fined for infractions involving rear end housings during pre-race inspections which led to Penske Racing being fined $200,000 and significant point deductions to the team.

Crew chiefs Todd Gordon and Paul Wolfe were fined $100,000 each and suspended for six Sprint Cup point races as well as the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race in May.

Team manager Travis Geisler and race engineers for both teams were suspended for six weeks as well according to Yahoo.

The punishments will depend on how a hearing goes, but if upheld, the Penske Racing team will be tested greatly this year.

"Sure, we have had our issues with it, but that's racing it's been that way since day one of racing," said Johnson during the press conference. "We go in there and we try to be as smart as we can and conform to the rules and put the best race car on the track. With all that being said, no, sure there was a lot of activity around the Penske cars during the test day, just like all the other cars. Everybody is watching, everybody is looking, but in no way shape or form did anybody from the No. 48 car walk into that truck and say anything."

Johnson also stated that when his team sees something there are two options you can take: go home and try to adapt whatever they saw to their car or tell NASCAR. His team has never said anything when seeing something that didn't look right because they're a "company built on performance."
