HBO's Big Little Lies is a story about domestic abuse. The main storyline for the first season revolved around a trivia night where someone was killed.

According to a report by Entertainment News Access, the finale was intense but it no longer mattered who the victim was. The show was more about the development and unfolding of the characters. However, the identity of the killer and the victim did give the viewers a lot of closure.

The seven-episode series consisted mainly of flashbacks. It showed how the characters got to where they were on the night of the infamous trivia night. Apparently, the victim was no other than Perry (Alexander Skarsgard), Celeste's (Nicole Kidman) abusive husband.

While the identity of the victim came as no real shocker, it surprised a lot of people that the killer was Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz). Bonnie was the very chill, yoga-teaching, hippie stepmom. She was always so calm and sweet. Apparently, a lot of important bits from the book didn't make it to HBO's Big Little Lies.

According to a report by Vanity Fair, Bonnie's father abused her mother. She was actually a child of domestic abuse and has been suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome ever since. This explains why she is now the calm and cool person she is in the present.

In the book, Bonnie's character was very upset when she saw what Perry was doing to Celeste. She flew into a range and pushed him down the stairs. The next day it was explained that she saw her father hit her mother until she was 20. She kept a lot of big secrets from everyone and would often lie to the police, social workers, and other people about what really happened at home.

In another report by Entertainment News Access, the question of whether or not there would be a Season 2 was addressed. The show's director, Jean-Marc Vallee, gave his opinion on the matter and said that the hanging ending should be left the way it is. Apparently, the end is something for people to discuss and imagine whatever they want to imagine. A season 2 would just spoil the already amazing story.

Big Little Lies gave the closure fans needed. Do you agree with Vallee' opinion about season 2? What did you think about the finale? Share your thoughts and comments below.
