Subaru will showcase a hybrid version of their XV Crosstrek crossover vehicle at the New York Auto Show next week according to a company press release. The company also stated to expect a performance "concept car" as well.
The vehicle is Subaru's first gas-electric model and with use technology based on Toyota Motor's hybrid system and will come with standard all-wheel drive. The Crosstrek uses a 148-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is mated to either a five-speed manual or CVT according to MotorTrend.
The XV Crosstrek crossover was introduced earlier this year, and Toyota said to expect the hybrid model to be very similar as far as features go. The company hasn't officially released details of the car's hybrid system as more information is expected to be released at the auto show.
As far as speed is concerned, neither the hybrid nor the concept is expected to be fast as the company has put more of a focus on fuel-economy.
The EPA-mileage for the non-hybrid model is 23 mpg of city driving and 30 mpg of highway driving with manual. The EPA-rated mileage with the CVT is 25 mpg of city driving and 33 mpg of highway driving.
Subaru has also yet to reveal when the car is expected in showrooms, but they have promised that deliveries will be made before the end of 2013.
