Sony's PlayStation 4 (PS4) is available in 500 GB and 1 TB models, and the console even allows gamers to upgrade its internal memory by installing bigger hard drives. However, after the PS4 update 4.50, players can now also use a more hassle-free method of expanding the PS4's storage memory.

According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the latest PS4 update 4.50, codenamed Sasuke, has officially been released. Update 4.50 comes with a slew of several useful features that gamers will definitely enjoy.

Main features of the PS4 update 4.50 include the option to use a USB storage device to install applications or move applications from the PS4's storage. Gamers must take note that the external HDD they choose must be USB 3.0 or later and have at least 250 GB minimum. External HDDs with 8 TB is the maximum capacity for the PS4's external storage.

Other features of the PS4 update 4.50 has made the quick menu more user-friendly, and gamers can now easily create and join in-game parties. The PS4's Notifications has also been redesigned, and all notifications will now appear in a single list.

With Remote Play on a Windows® PC, Mac, XperiaTM Smartphone, or XperiaTM Tablet, gamers can now use the selected device's microphone for voice chat when playing a game or during parties. Players now also have the option to customize the background of the home screen and function screen on the PS4.

In-game screenshots can also now be directly shared to activities, like in the PS4's [What's New] section. Animated GIFs can also be used in activities and social applications.

If you are signed in to your smartphone, your online status will be displayed as "Mobile" when signed in via the PlayStation App. This will allow you to keep communicating with friends while on the go.

Parties can now be changed to either "Public" or "Private" even after the party has been created, and PlayStation VR now supports Blu-ray 3DTM content.

External drives will now be automatically assigned as the default locations for new games and apps, but this can be changed via the PS4's settings menu, per Kotaku. Players who accidentally disconnect their external drive don't need to worry because the PS4 will just go through the same process it does when the console is suddenly powered off.

With PS4 update 4.50, users can also opt for a dark or light drop shadow under menu text which will "ensure proper viability" with a custom background. The latest update also gives PS4 Pro users an optimized Boost Mode, which significantly increases "performance in non-optimized older games."
