2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 And E63 S Estate: Impressive Station Wagon Unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show

Car enthusiasts can take a look at the newest members of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class models at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Also on display are the latest 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate.

According to Carscoops, both E63 models were recently revealed online last February. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate models are both powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine delivering 563 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) in the 'standard' E63 and 604 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) for the E63 S Estate.

Thanks to the V8 engine's impressive capabilities, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate can easily hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3.6 seconds before reaching a maximum 250 km/h (155 mph) top speed. The E63 S has an easier time sprinting from 0-100 km/h under a slightly quicker 3.5 seconds and in Euro-spec, it is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

The 4MATIC+ variable all-wheel drive system that comes as standard is one of the reasons for the E63 and the E63 S's "insane acceleration capabilities." It replaces the rear-wheel setup of the previous-generation E63.

While in the 'S,' the 4MATIC+ comes with a dedicated 'Drift' mode that "sends power exclusively through the rear wheels." The new E63 Estate models also come with a nine-speed Speedshift MCT automatic transmission with double-clutching, optional Ceramic Composite brakes, and three-chamber air suspension.

Both models also sport the regular E-Class Estate's "massive (and practical)" boot, which can hold 640 liters with the rear bench in place, and 1,820 liters with the rear seats folded: significantly more than the RS6 Avant's 565 and 1,680 liters, respectively.

On the other hand, the 603-hp 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S has been touted as a "ridiculously powerful station wagon," per Motor Authority. The E63 S' three-chamber air suspension at all four corners also has settings for Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.

Meanwhile, the front of the vehicle has a four-link suspension with wishbones, strut rods, and spring links. Various suspension components of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate are made with forged aluminum, while the rear axle has been redesigned to "handle the power and improved dynamics of the car." At the rear of the E63 S is an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential that functions without braking intervention.

But the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate still has more features. The vehicle's engine is held in place by dynamic engine mounts that come with settings "for comfort or dynamic performance."

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate's steering is electromechanical, and its ratio varies depending on speed. The steering's heft is also adjustable. For the E63 S' brakes, Mercedes outfitted the vehicle with internally ventilated and perforated 15.4-inch rotors up front with 6-piston fixed calipers and 14.2-inch rotors in the rear with single-piston calipers. Buyers will also have the option of purchasing the E63 S with carbon composite brakes with 15.8-inch front rotors.
