Seth MacFarlane confirmed on Twitter this week that he won't be returning as host of the Oscars again.

A fan who goes by the Twitter name @CrusePhoto asked MacFarlane if the "Family Guy" creator would ever host again just two days after the Academy Awards.

The news shouldn't be that much of a surprise as MacFarlane hinted before the show that it might be a onetime deal, and after the amount of criticism he's from viewers who watched the ceremony all-around the world, why would he want to do it again?

The comedian has been criticized for a number of things, like his "poor-taste jokes" involving slavery, religion, politics, and gays according to many media outlets.

The part of the show people were offended by the most however was the number "We Saw Your Boobs," which was about all the different movies celebrities have appeared in that featured nudity according to NBC News.

The motion picture academy allowed MacFarlane complete control and freedom to write the show he wanted to do, and did not see any of MacFarlane's skits or routines beforehand. If the comedian knew this would be the only Oscar's he'd be hosting, it definitely seemed like he wanted to pull out all the stops.

Choosing MacFarlane might have been controversial, but he did produce ratings according to ABC News. The number's for Sunday's telecast were up 11 percent compared to last year when Billy Crystal was asked to host again.

MacFarlane hinted that next year's award show could be hosted by the duo who were in charge of the Golden Globe's: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

The former "Saturday Night Live" members received rave reviews for the way they handled one of the biggest annual award shows, which could mean they may receive a call from the Academy next year.

Approximately 40.3 million people watched the show this weekend, up 1 million viewers from last year and the first time the show has tipped the 40 million mark since 2010 according to Yahoo.

Ratings for the important 18 to 49 demographic were up 11 percent overall and there were 8.9 million tweets about the Oscars before and during the show.
