A new report was released this week stating iPhone users spend approximately $100 more per month on carrier bills than any other phone.
The results were based off of a poll conducted between October and December of 2012 and was completed by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners .
"We think it has to do with (iOS users) data plans and carriers, rather than their usage habits," said Michael Levin, CIRP co-founder according to MacObserver.com. "They are all on expensive data plans, unlike Android users, some of which are on prepaid or unsubsidized plans with regional carriers.
iPhone users spend more with their carrier, compared to 55 percent of Android users, 40 percent of Blackberry owners, and 56 percent of Windows Phone users according to the report. iPhone users that were polled spend less than $25 per month on their bill, where as only 6 percent fell between the $25 to $50 range according to Apple Insider.
The $51 to $100 range represented 36 percent of iPhone owners, where as 49 percent spend $101 and $200.
"At the end of the day, the carriers want to provide their customers with what their customers want to buy," said Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook this past July during a press conference. "And so the most important thing for Apple by far is to continue making the best products in the world."
Cook also stated that the total subsidy that carriers pay is "fairly small" in comparison to monthly payments that other carriers charge their subscribers. Cook said at the same press conference that the iPhone device as a whole has a lower "churn rate," which describes the number of customers who leave a carrier in a given time period.
Carriers usually pay higher subsides for an Apple phones to get people to agree to a new two-year contract. Carriers then get customers to agree to monthly plans that are higher on average than those used by opposing smartphone companies.
