Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Garnet Red Edition Announced, Runs Android Jelly Bean, Includes Free Matching Case (PHOTOS/ VIDEO)

Samsung Electronics announced this week that a new Garnet Red Edition of their Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will be available for a limited time starting this week at specific retail stores.

The new device is preloaded with Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, and showcases the company's commitment to "provided users with choice, portability, and entertainment."

"This new eye-catching version of the Galaxy Tab 2 offers endless entertainment in the palm of your hand, while the stylish Garnet Red look will set you apart from the crowd," said Michael Abary , Senior Vice President, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. in the press release "The Garnet Red version of the Galaxy® S III has been incredibly well-received, so we are happy to make the same brilliant color available for our Galaxy Tab 2 as well."

The limited edition Tab was created for interested customers who wish to stay connected, entertained, while seeking a unique color that maybe matches their personality compared to the normal colors offered by Samsung like black or white.

The device is advertised as a powerful dual-core tablet which runs on Android Jelly Bean, while also featuring an accessible memory card slot for loading media files in a range of different supported formats according to the company release.

The built-in IR Blaster and Smart Remote App allows the device to essentially turn into a universal remote, allowing users to find their favorite shows and change from different channels directly from their tablet.

Customers can also sort through hundreds of thousands of apps or access movies, music, and television shows through Google Play or Media Hub.

The Tab features a 7 inch TFT display, measures in at around 0.41" x 4.8" x 7.6". It weighs 0.76 pounds, and has a built-in microSD slot that can fit up to 32GB of storage. The device can connect to Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, WiFi, and integrated IR for home theater control.

The limited edition version of the Galaxy Tab will be priced at $219.99 and included a matching Garnet Ted Case, valued at $50, for free. The device can be purchased at specific locations like Walmart, Amazon.com, Toys "R" Us, Office Depot, and Fry's Tiger Direct.
