The 2017 Nissan Murano Midnight Edition graced the 2017 Chicago Auto Show alongside its brothers with the same Midnight Edition package. Nissan has expanded the availability of this specific trimming that was originally launched for the Maxima SR.

The Midnight Edition package was launched initially in 2016 that included black wheels, mirror caps, fancy floor mats, and of course spoilers. Motor Trend reports that Christian Meunier, the Sales and Marketing and Operations Senior VP of Nissan, said in a statement: "The idea of expanding the availability of the Midnight Edition package was driven by customers who loved the blackout treatment on Maxima SR and asked for it to be available on other popular Nissan vehicles."

For the 2017 Nissan Murano Midnight Edition, it includes a black 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, black mirror caps and splash guards, black roof rails, and sportier floormats, which are optional. Basically, everything has been decked out to black, well as the name "Midnight" suggests.

However, other color options are available as Pearl White, Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black, and Cayenne Red. Just to be clear though, the trim level that received the Midnight Edition package is the line-up's highest range, the Platinum trim level.

Relatively, to sell even more units for the popular Nissan Murano, which is already at the end of its cycle, Nissan has decked this crossover vehicle and added a darker exterior styling, and charged us with a premium. This is what you might call "50 Shades of Murano."

To recap on the Nissan Murano Platinum trim's engine, it is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 capable of producing 260 hp at 6000 rpm and 240 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. It comes with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission that feeds a FWD drivetrain as standard, with AWD offered as an available option, according to TopSpeed.

The Nissan Murano has a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seat, and heated outboard rear seats. A 7-inch infotainment display in mounted on the center. The crossover vehicle comes with LED headlights and the interior has leather upholstery.

The Midnight Edition package is also available for the Pathfinder, Sentra, Rogue, Altima, and also the Maxima, given that it is the original.

The 2017 Nissan Murano Midnight Edition package retails at around $1,195. The Murano Platinum trim level (sans-Midnight Edition) starts at $39,610.
