The Nintendo Switch is the Japanese gaming company's much-awaited hybrid console set to debut next month. In a recent interview with Time Magazine, the Japanese company's president Tatsumi Kimishima covered a lot of matters relating to the Switch and their mobile strategy.

First of all, the Switch will not support games designed for other systems. In other words, backward compatibility will not be an option for the console at this time. IGN reported that the Japanese gaming president has stated that the console may offer support for older controllers in the future and is a possibility for a future update.

Additionally, when asked if the Switch could emulate Wii U games, Kimishima acknowledged that the Japanese gaming company could make Wii U games playable for their latest hybrid console in the future. He further added that these games may be released for the new console in either an original or enhanced version.

Regarding the Nintendo online subscription system, Gamespot reported that it will be offered anywhere between $18 to $27 per year. This is much lower than most of its competitors. Kimishima even commented that he believes it is a bit underpriced or could even be considered cheap but they are dedicated to bringing their online business to their consumers at an affordable price point.

He emphasized that the Japanese company is doing this in order to make their fans happy. Moreover, the Nintendo president said that he believes it is really a battle of content and if they want to do better with this system, their company will need to consider the services they are offering.

In related news, Kimishima also addressed the company's mobile strategy. Over the last twelve months, the Japanese gaming company has released a total of three mobile games for the first time in history. The Japanese gaming president believes this is a good movie because it will increase their franchises and characters reach by introducing it to more people.

The Nintendo Switch will be available next month as well as the much awaited Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Everyone, the Japanese company most especially, has such high hopes for the Switch despite gamers' mixed reactions about its price point. Are you excited about the Switch?
