The 2018 Bentley Continental has recently been spied although the sports car has been heavily disguised. The vehicle has a new design and comes in the GT and Convertible variants.

When the test vehicle was spotted, initial reaction was it was the Porsche Panamera. But taking a closer look revealed the details that it was indeed a newly design 2018 Bentley Continental Convertible. Noticeable were the number plates that were registered to Bentley UK.

According to Express UK, the vehicle's lines and bonnet may have been inspired by the EXP 10 Speed concept that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015. Also, a soft top has been chosen for the convertible model. Each of the car's taillight has an oval-shaped design element, which is again borrowed from the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept.

Further, based on the "spied" images, the 2018 Bentley Continental Convertible seem narrower compared with the earlier generation. This can be noticed when both grilles are compared side by side.

The company has not released any details regarding the vehicle's interior. But an MSB platform is being used underneath the vehicle's sheet metal. This was also used for the 2017 Porsche Panamera. Utilizing the MSB platform allows for a considerable weight saving. It also allows compatibility with alternative power trains, per CarSpyPhotos.

Both the 2018 Bentley Continental Convertible and GT will be powered by 6-liter twin-turbocharged W-12 that produces 600 horses. This is an impressive increase from the current model's 583 bhp. The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive, which comes as a standard. A plug-in hybrid has been confirmed by the company.

The Continental GT from Bentley has been one of the oldest models in production. The original coupe appeared back during the 2003 Geneva Auto Show.

The new 2018 Bentley Continental Convertible and GT should make its initial debut around 2017. There is a possibility that this will be during the Geneva Auto Show that will kick off this March. The vehicle should hit stores by 2018.
