Hail An Uber Within Google Maps Without Leaving The App

Google recently redesigned the Google Maps to incorporate ridesharing service Uber. Everything can be done from within the app, from booking an Uber to paying for it. You no longer need to get out of the Map and use an Uber app to hail a ride.

The Verge reported that Google Maps' latest version will soon roll out globally for Android and iOS users. While it was already amazing to see pickup ETA and price estimates for Uber, Lyft, and others ridesharing services from within the Map, Google has made things a bit easier and more convenient especially for users who are in a hurry.

Google has redesigned the "ride services" section of the map to provide a split view with the map on top and ride service providers on the bottom. For Uber app users, this might look similar with that of the ridesharing app, with moving vehicles representing real-time nearby options.

Now, Google Maps users need only an Uber account to get an Uber, track the ETA of the driver, connect with the driver, and also pay the driver all from within the Maps. There is also no need to download an Uber app or open it while using the Maps. However, this upgrade is only limited Uber. Lyft and other ridesharing services will soon be integrated into Google Maps.

Also, last December, Google rolled out its rebranded Gboard. Previously available for iOS, Android users can search and send information directly from the keyboard without the need to switch from one app to the next. This is much similar to their update for Google Maps. 

As of this writing, Google has notified that the update for the Maps will be available for both iOS and Android platforms globally. Google Maps is free to download on the Play Store for Android devices and the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
