PS4 owners are getting a nice gift from Santa Claus this holiday season: Sony just came up with a new PlayStation Communities application for iOS and Android users. This app aims to help PS4 users reach out to others with comparable preferences and interests, while playing in the PlayStation Communities realm.

However, Sony's application developer confirmed that previous PlayStation generations are not attuned to work with PlayStation Communities. Thus, PlayStation Communities app will only be compatible with PlayStation 4 and designed to work even if a gamer's playing away from the console.

In addition, Sony announced that users can link to parties, launch games with any Community member, and discuss shared interests through the PlayStation Communities app. In regards to how it really works, Sony's application developer cited one scenario: getting players to discuss about Destiny's recent attack --- The Wrath of the Machine; using this app, Destiny's community will offer help in completing a fire team.

What's more interesting is that the app allows one to see recommended communities to bond with, based on the type of games a user has played. Such feature also allows one to discover new communities and underline trends relative to a user's interest or preference, according to Gadgets 360.

Moreover, the PlayStation Communities app provides Android or iOS user access to view community profiles, list of communities subscribed to or a member of, and anyone who is part of the community a user is into.

For those interested, here's another piece of good news: the PlayStation Communities app for Android and iOs doesn't need one to pay for downloading the application. Yes, you read that right, the app is for free!

When Sony announced the PlayStation Communities app launch, they said it will be accessible through the Apple App Store and Google Play, as reported on Phone Arena.

Sounds like PS4 gamers will make a lot of new friends in the coming days. Agree?
