Aptly titled "The Room Where It Happens," "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 episode 8, which was aired last November 10, 2016, was nothing but ordinary. For many years, fans and viewers of this show alike had an ample amount of up and down experiences with the story, but there is no doubt that this long-running show had brought anything dull. The latest episode did not disappoint, and many viewers were left with their emotions turned awry.

The episode centered on a nameless critical patient in dire need of a surgical procedure. No one knows whether he caused the accident or whether he was the victim, but renowned doctors Meredith, Owen and later Webber got into action immediately inside the "room where it happens" which is in the Operation Room.

The nameless patient was in bad shape. Meredith and Owen started the emergency operation, despite their sleep-deprived state. Webber then arrived, well-fed and well-rested, to the irritation of the two present doctors. While arguing how to manage the patient, Webber chastised Meredith and Owen for treating the patient like a "sack of organs on the table" and suggested to give the patient a name and identity instead, as recapped by Entertainment Weekly.

They eventually opted for the name Gail. They spun stories about Gail and her life, her family and her humanity. Giving the patient a name and identity were supposed to give the surgeons a feeling of empathy, a sense of great responsibility to save the life of the person, and not just treat them as a textbook problem you need to solve. There is a life at stake, families who will rejoice for his survival, or mourn for his death, which greatly lies in their surgical hands.

In the end, it was revealed that Webber's mom was called Gail and she died from pancreatic cancer. He became a better surgeon and doctor after he realized that he must not treat his patients with dissociation where he lost his mother to a disease he used to mildly consider with his previous patients. Cosmopolitan tags the "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 episode as a "strange and ultimately heartbreaking episode."

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 episode 9 "You Haven't Done Nothin'" will air this Nov. 17, 2016.
