Latest LG V20 Leak Reveals A Potent Handset But With Severely Downgraded Display

A new leak of the LG V20 has brought to the fore what goes into the making of the upcoming flagship device. However, with the V20 already confirmed for launch in September, there sure will be plenty more such leaks to look forward to.

With the LG G5 launched during the Mobile Word Congress in February failing to make much of a mark, the onus now is on the V20 to deliver big time. Towards that, the V20 also comes with just the right specs which include a Snapdragon 820 chip and Adreno 530 GPU combo that will work in conjugation with a 3 GB or 4 GB RAM option for two separate models.

There will also be two internal storage configurations of 32 GB and 64 GB while another 256 GB can be added via microSD cards. The V20 is also expected to feature a Type-C port along with a 4,000mAh power unit. The latter comes across as a huge improvement over its predecessor which came with a 3,000mAh battery.

Then there is going to be a 20 MP rear shooter as well while a 8 MP front cam will allow for selfie shots or video chats. While both the camera marks an upgrade over the 16 MP and 5 MP rear and front shooter present on the V10 respectively, there is no word if the front cam will have a dual lens setup as was seen in the last year's device.

So far so good but what comes across as a disappointment is the front display which now has lesser pixels to boot. While the V10 came with a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel Quad HD display, its successor will have just a full HD 1920 x 1080 in-cell display of 5.5-inch dimension. That for a 2016 flagship is quite unthinkable considering that even mid-ranger now sport full HD displays.

However, in what certainly is going to be one of the biggest USP of the V20 is Android 7 Nougat that it will come pre-installed with right out of the gates. That makes for a unique scenario considering that this would be the first instance of a non-Nexus device to hit the market running the newest Android version.

While that no doubt is a rare distinction for the latest flagship from LG, a company that had delivered quite a few of the best Nexus devices to date, the onus will be on the V20 to repeat the feat the past Nexus devices have managed.
