Formula One Champion Lewis Hamilton lost his pole position in the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday for breaching the Formula One rules.

With the error in the final countdown in the Spanish Grand Prix, Hamilton was stripped off the pole position. His position was replaced with Paston Maldonaldo in the first place and the much awaited Spanish Grand Prix is shaping up to what is expected to be another unpredictable one.

Lewis Hamilton was forced by the Formula One officials to stop on the pit and return to the garage and pave way for Williams driver to past him for more than a half a second. Hamilton had to be satisfied with the third pole position and the McLaren's 150th in overall. The McLaren team technical officials spoke to Hamilton over the radio to stop at the pit since the technicians announced that the driver had a very less fuel in his vehicle and he couldn't even return to the pit. Hamilton halted his vehicle on the pit obeying the rules of the Formula One.

"We had to take the decision for Lewis Hamilton to stop his car immediately after he crossed the line of Formula One rules. Since the team technicians announced that the Hamilton's vehicle was filled with less fuel and he will not be able to come back to the pits even after he crosses the finishing line. The amount of the petrol put in the vehicle was very minimal. The refuelling team could have worked under pressure," said Martin Whitmarsh, team principal for McLaren.

Governing authority of the FIA made an official announcement after the incident that, "The amount of petrol fuelled in the vehicle of Lewis Hamilton had violated the rules of the FIA and since we have approved Lewis Hamilton to stop the car with immediate effect and start the last refresh".
