The 2015 Bentley Mulsanne Speed, a tougher take on the brand's comfortable style, is slated to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Expected to arrive at American dealerships in the first half of 2015, the Mulsanne Speed will first launch at the Paris show and then be unveiled in the U.S. as part of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Edmunds.com reported.

"The Mulsanne Speed is distinguished, calm and relaxing, but always with a connection to the road and relentless dynamic performance on demand," Bentley described in a statement quoted by Edmunds.

The new flagship sedan, which will have boosted horsepower, should be priced around $335,600 to start, Bentley spokesman Corey Proffitt told Edmunds.

Featuring "more assertive styling," the Mulsanne Speed also has a first for the Bentley brand: a directional-style wheel that has a design handed for the right or left side of the car, according to the automaker.

The sedan runs on a 6.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which produces 530 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. Its top speed is 190 mph, while zero to 60 time stands at 4.8 seconds. In comparison, the 2014 version had 505 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque.

Bentley's new flagship model has an eight-speed automatic transmission that has been recalibrated for better handling and keeps the engine speed above 2,000 rpm, Edmunds reported.

The EPA has not yet published fuel economy numbers for the new Speed; however, Bentley promises improved fuel efficiency thanks to retuning and various tinkering to improve the vehicle. The base 2014 Mulsanne had EPA ratings of 11 miles per gallon in city driving and 18 mpg on the highway.

For exterior paint colors, the 2015 Mulsanne Speed will come in Spectre, which is black with a gold metallic and green tint, as well as Candy Red. A new option for the interior is the Piano Black panels with carbon-fiber inlays.
