General Motors will soon be offering optional Z71 packages for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, the automaker announced on Friday.

Pricing and details on additional equipment in the packages will be revealed in late September, Edmunds.com reported via GM.

Chevrolet first offered a special Z71 package for full-size pickup models in 1988, while the Tahoe and Suburban got the Z71 option in 2001.

Priced at $1,585, the Z71 off-road suspension package for the 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe includes "revised springs and shocks, a skid-plate package, 18-inch aluminum wheels and off-road tires, tubular assist steps, a unique fascia and high-capacity air cleaner," according to Edmunds.

The Tahoe faces off against models including the Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon, Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia, while the Suburban competes with the Honda Pilot, Nissan Armada and Toyota Land Cruiser.

"Building on the early success of the all-new 2015 Tahoe and Suburban launch, Chevrolet will continue to offer features and variants to meet the needs of its customers," GM said in a statement.

The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe starts at $45,890, including a $995 destination fee, while the redesigned Suburban is available for $48,590 with $995 for shipping.

The 2015 Tahoe LTZ with four-wheel drive is available for $62,995, including shipping, and the top-of-the-line 2015 Suburban LTZ with four-wheel-drive starts at $65,695.
