General Motors Recalling 14,940 2014-'15 Chevrolet Impala Sedans in U.S

General Motors is recalling 14,940 2014-'15 Chevrolet Impala sedans in the U.S. due to an issue with the front console storage compartment.

The vehicles are being called back because the front console storage compartment latch may open in a rear crash, the automaker confirmed on August 13.

The recall was as part of a group of five U.S. recalls announced by GM this week.

The biggest recall in this latest group is for the 2002-'04 Saturn Vue for an ignition key cylinder problem.

The recalls in this group raises the 2014 total to a record 65 campaigns for the Detroit automaker.

GM said that the recall involves select Impala LT and LTZ models equipped with a front console storage compartment.

No crashes or injuries have been linked to the recall yet, according to the automaker.

Chevy dealers are being told to replace the door's inertia latch.

All repairs will be made free of charge.

A recall date has not been announced yet by GM.

Owners with more questions can contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 for additional information.

A stop-sale order is currently in effect for unsold models at dealerships. No 2014-'15 Chevy Impala's will be sold until the vehicles can be fixed.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't posted any information regarding the recall as of press time.
