Ford is recalling certain 2015 Ford Transit vans in North America for brake problems and has issued a stop sale for the vehicles to dealerships.
The recall affects 1,319 vans that could have brake fluid leaks "at the joint between the rear brake hose and brake caliper," Edmunds.com reported.
Ford is not aware of any injuries connected with the issue.
"If any of the brake hose washer seals are leaking, the driver of the vehicle will eventually see the red brake warning lamp illuminated and a 'Brake Fluid Level Low - Service Now' message in the cluster," the automaker said in a statement quoted by Edmunds. "Drivers may also experience longer pedal travel and extended stopping distances, increasing the risk of an accident."
Built between April 3, 2014 and May 27, 2014, the affected Ford Transit vans were manufactured at the Kansas City Assembly Plant.
The recall, which should start on Aug. 18, will involve replacing parts on the brake joints. Edmunds noted that no information about the recall had yet been posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
Owners can reach Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Since the recall will start soon, they should make an appointment with their dealer.
