Apple will start replacing broke iPhone 5S displays in-house on Aug. 4, according to a report by Apple Insider.
The report notes that iPhone 5S screens can be changed only on devices that haven't been damaged by water or other hardware failures, like bent chassis.
Users with seriously damaged iPhone devices must send their phones in to Apple for servicing or replacement.
Details regarding out-of-pocket cost have not been provided yet, according to the report, which cited a "source familiar with the matter."
The source did say that AppleCare+ will only pay the usual $79 plus tax fee just like they would if a user sent the phone off by mail.
All iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C screen replacements cost $149, not including tax, but an iPhone 5S repair could be more expensive if the sapphire-covered Touch ID home button is also damaged, according to the report.
Apple started repairing iPhone 5 screens at Apple store locations back in 2013.
By replacing just the screen, instead of performing a wholesale device swap-out, Apple is hoping to save some money and time for its customers and for itself.
Earlier this year, Apple extended the screen replacement program to include the iPhone 5C, which is similar in design to the iPhone 5.
