Facebook is introducing a "Save" feature that will let you bookmark posts for later similar to the way Twitter favorites mark tweets.
"Every day, people find all sorts of interesting items on Facebook that they don't have time to explore right away. Now you can save items that you find on Facebook to check out later when you have more time," software engineer Daniel Giambalvo wrote in a company blog post.
Users can "save" items including links, places, movies, TV or music, the Christian Science Monitor reported.
Unlike Twitter favorites, which are automatically public on unlocked accounts, the bookmarked items will remain private unless the user decides to share them with friends. The list of saved items is organized by category, and users can "swipe right" on each one to share it with friends or put it on an archive list.
The Save feature will be rolling out for Web, Android and iOS versions of Facebook during the next few days, according to the blog post.
Facebook has been busy adding updates. The social network introduced a new app called Mentions for celebrities and public figures last week around the same time that it launched a Buy button in the News Feed.
Mentions encourages its users to share statuses, photos and videos, emphasizing posting content rather than just looking at other people's pages. The app also includes a section that can show celebrities when people are talking about them.
The service allows Facebook users to purchase items that are advertised on the site, essentially letting people buy things straight from their News Feed, Reuters reported last week.
Facebook said the buy button would be tested with a "few small and medium-sized businesses" in the U.S. The social network is currently not receiving a cut of the profits on items sold through the buy service, a source told Reuters.
