Mitsubishi has announced that its 2015 Outlander Sport SUV will be sold for $20,420, including a destination fee of $825.

The price is $100 more than the current 2014 Outlander Sport option.

The top-of-the-line 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWC will be available for a base price of $25,020, including shipping, according to a company release.

The 2015 vehicle is a carryover option, but it will come with a few improvements that customers should be excited about.

Mitsubishi confirmed that the 2015 Outlander Sport comes with the next-generation continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The automaker expects the upgraded CVT to provide "better response and performance from a standing start," according to Mitsubishi.

For the 2015 Outlander Sport model, customers can expect features like a new Carbon audio panel trim and next-gen electric power steering.

The SE vehicle comes with LED running lights and new high-gloss piano black audio trim panel with silver accent trim, according to the release.

The 2015 Outlander Sport two-wheel-drive CVT model delivers 25 mpg in city driving and 32 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The number is an increase of 1 mpg compared to the 2014 model.

Mitsubishi expects the Outlander Sport to compete with similar vehicles like the 2014-'15 Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru XV Crosstrek.

The 2015 Outlander Sport arrives at U.S. dealerships this summer.
