Sony's SmartBand is now available in the U.S. for $99. The waterproof wearable, which tracks steps, sleep and other activities, debuted at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.

Described as a "life tracker" by Sony, the wristband is compatible with Android 4.4 devices, TechCrunch reported. The wearable, which became available in Europe earlier this year for 99 euros, counts steps and tracks sleep but isn't just intended for fitness.

"The SmartBand is an innovative life logging wrist band that lets you keep track of everything you do--your movements, your communications, your entertainment," Sony described. "Wearable technology for wherever you go, around the clock."

The SmartBand additionally has weather updates, photo storage, music stream and personal notes. It pairs with the Lifelog app and allows the user to assess activity at the end of the day to plan for the future, according to PCMag.com. The SmartBand also has a smart alarm that can wake up the wearer at the prime time based on sleep cycle.

Available online and in Sony stores, the SmartBand comes with two adjustable black wristbands and a removable core unit. Users can also choose from a range of colored bands if they want to switch it up.

Sony has been focusing on the European market instead of the U.S. and China, which is why the SmartBand came there first, according to TechCrunch.
