Google is reportedly planning a Wallet update for Glass, giving wearers a way to make payments simply by talking to their device.
The feature, which would let Glass users pay people back by asking Glass to "send money," is being tested right now but should soon launch for all Glass devices, according to TechCrunch.
Besides being handy for wearers, the change will benefit Google with a 2.9 percent transaction fee, which is a minimum of 30 cents. During internal testing, Glass wearers can install Wallet by signing up for the service through a company computer, an industry source told TechCrunch.
The tech titan, which has been promoting Google Glass with various campaigns, recently rolled out Wallet for Gmail, giving users a way to attach money to their emails.
"Google Wallet is integrated with Gmail, so you can quickly and securely send money to friends and family directly within Gmail," said a company post. "Whether you're chipping in for lunch or reimbursing your roommate for your share of the rent, paying back your friends is as simple as sending an email."
According to Google, Wallet has purchase protection to shield users from all eligible unauthorized payments. Recipients will also have to sign up for Google Wallet to get the payment.
Google has been busy trying to improve the Glass image with campaigns like Glass at Work, which is intended to support businesses using the device, as well as a challenge for nonprofits to implement the connected eyewear into their work to win a $25,000 grant.
The device has only been rolled out for a select number of developers and went on sale for just one day in April, but interested consumers can sign up online to be notified when Glass is available.
