Vevo reached a monthly average of approximately 6 billion views in December, a 46 percent increase compared to the same time the previous year.

The news was announced by company CEO Rio Caraeff, according to Reuters.

The company added that approximately 65 percent of all videos are being watched on mobile phones.

"On a global stage, it's really all about mobile," Caraeff said in Miami, where he was participating in the Billboard Latin Music Conference. "Mobile and tablet and television are where the majority of the views are happening."

The number of people watching media like music videos from smartphones, tablets, or web-connected TVs is growing, and companies like Vevo, Apple, and Microsoft are benefiting from it, according to Reuters.

Google is a minority stakeholder in New York-based company, which was founded in 2009.

Of the 6 billion music videos streamed each month, 5 billion occur outside the U.S., according to Caraeff.

The UK and Germany are the top countries reported by the company, which offers its own service to 12 countries around the world.

Mexico will be the next location to be able to use Vevo, according to Reuters.

The most watched video ever is Justin Bieber's "Baby" with over 1 billion streams.

Vevo videos have been featured on Yahoo Music since 2012.
