Microsoft has confirmed Office for iPad downloads reached the 12 million mark just one week after becoming available, according to AppleInsider.com.
The company confirmed the news on its @Office Twitter handle.
Tools like Microsoft Word for iPad, Microsoft Excel for iPad, and Microsoft PowerPoint for iPad are all now available, to the delight of most Apple users.
Just one day after being introduced, Office for iPad reached the top of Apple's iOS App Store charts, according to AppleInsider.com.
Microsoft unveiled Microsoft Office for iPad at the end of March after years of speculation. Rumors has circulated about Microsoft Office becoming available for iPad devices ever since the device was first introduced in 2010.

A subscription is required to allow users to create or edit documents however.
Microsoft's Office 365 Home Premium costs $100 a year. Users will need an Office 365 subscription to create documents with the new app.
Microsoft's own attempts to challenge the iPad have not sold well, like the Surface tablet, mainly due to a lack of interest in devices running Windows 8, the company's latest operating system.
