Nissan's new 2014 Nissan Rogue crossover has earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The highest rating a vehicle can receive from the NHTSA is five stars.
The 2014 Rogue received five stars in the side crash test, four stars in the rollover crash test, and three stars in the front crash test.
Nissan's 2013 Rogue also received a four-star overall safety rating.
The 2014 Nissan Rogue Select received a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, including four stars in the front crash test, four stars in the rollover crash test, and five stars in the side crash test.
All ratings apply to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options of the Rogue as well, according to the NHTSA.
The 2014 Rogue was also earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
"The new Rogue is an improvement over the previous generation, which was rated marginal in the small overlap test and acceptable in the roof strength evaluation," said the IIHS in a statement regarding its decision. "The new Rogue offers an optional forward collision warning system, a first for the model."
The vehicle competes with similar vehicles like the 2014 Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and the Volkswagen Tiguan, along with other vehicles.
