Ever since Lexus cut $4,6710 off the sticker price for its base GX 460 in August, it's been difficult to find the vehicle at dealerships in the U.S.
The base GX 460 has been rolling odd dealer lots at a quick pace, and through the middle of January, Lexus on had a nine-day supply in stock, according to Edmunds.
Amazingly, this number is up from the four-day supply recorded at the end of December.
Buyers around the country have also responded to Lexus' successful advertising campaign that offers the vehicle for just $500 a month.
"(The GX 460) wasn't a large percentage of our total GX sales, it allowed our dealers to market that kind of price point," said Jeff Bracken, Lexus Group vice president and general manager, according to Edmunds. "It certainly has brought in some great traffic. Dealers have done wonderfully with GX. We just can't build them quick enough."
Dealers and car companies alike consider a 60-day supply to be "comfortable," according to Edmunds.
The automaker said it will take "some time" before it's able to build the supply up in Japan, due to slow production.
"It will probably be April before we can recover to a level that is a little more healthy for our dealers, back to a 25, 30-day supply," said Bracken at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, according to Edmunds.
In 2013, Lexus averaged 1,005 GX sales per month, according to Bracken. Since the price change, the automaker is averaging approximately 1,400 sales per month.
